Op donderdag 13 en vrijdag 14 juni a.s. vindt op de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam het 17e tweejaarlijkse congres van het Comparative International Accounting Research (CIGAR) netwerk plaats. Naar verwachting rond de 150 deelnemers, afkomstig uit alle continenten, zullen zich dan buigen over het thema Alternative views on Public Sector Accounting and Financial Management.
Op donderdag 13 en vrijdag 14 juni a.s. vindt op de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam het 17e tweejaarlijkse congres van het Comparative International Accounting Research (CIGAR) netwerk plaats. Naar verwachting rond de 150 deelnemers, afkomstig uit alle continenten, zullen zich dan buigen over het thema Alternative views on Public Sector Accounting and Financial Management.
Tijdens het congres worden wetenschappers buiten het domein van accounting en bestuurskunde gevraagd om hun visie te geven over het onderzoeksterrein van public sector accounting. Als plenaire sprekers hebben onder meer toegezegd Alfred Ho (hoogleraar University of Kansas, expert op het vlak van big data binnen de publieke sector), Ewout Irrgang (collegelid Algemene Rekenkamer) en Gerda van Dijk (hoogleraar Publiek Leiderschap VU).
Naast academici zijn ook niet-academici van harte welkom om aan het congres deel te nemen. Op vrijdag 14 juni zullen er voor laatstgenoemde groep specifieke sessies worden belegd op het vlak van innovatie in publieke verantwoording, waarbij onder meer de ontwikkeling van digitalisering van verslaggeving, de invoering van het baten-lastenstelsel en de implementatie van IPSAS besproken zullen worden. Tijdens die dag zal ook Ian Carruthers (voorzitter IPSAS Board) een presentatie verzorgen.
De reguliere deelnameprijs voor het congress bedraagt € 425, maar degenen die alleen op vrijdag 14 juni willen deelnemen worden in de gelegenheid gesteld om zich voor een speciaal tarief van € 200 in te schrijven. Na 13 mei worden de genoemde tarieven met 10% verhoogd.
Het congres vindt plaats in het hoofdgebouw van de Vrije Universiteit en wordt in samenwerking tussen de afdeling Accounting en het Zijlstra Center for Public Control, Governance & Leadership georganiseerd.
